Camp Swingset 2023

June 30 – July 4, 2023

We have an acre pond for kayaking, a creek with a soaking hole, a full kitchen, bar (BYOGood Stuff), fire pit, shower, in-ground pool, stage, many acres of woods, possibly rock-climbing (TBD by riggers), and will continue to add amenities as time permits.

This is a primitive camping site without indoor plumbing. There is limited communal electricity available, but please be cognizant that it pulls off our home grid. There will be portos on site, approximately 500 feet from the camping site. The water running to the kitchen is potable. Cooking is on fire, grill or butane stoves (provided). We will do a pig roast one night and provide ingredients for dinners the other nights.

You are welcome to ship anything to our house.

There is a big public lake 3 miles from our house and a small market close by. 15-20 minutes away is any store you could possibly need. A short walk takes you to a wonderful ice cream stand.

Scheduled activities (tentative and weather dependent):

  • Friday: swim in Rocky Horror Picture Show in the pool
  • Saturday: pig roast and Nerd Wars
  • Sunday: wrasslin! Please contact Amy or Brian if you wish to participate.
  • Monday: karaoke

Note: This is an event for those who enjoy being in a consent-required atmosphere of freedom, open sexuality, community, and plain ole silliness. Dress and undress to your comfort level. Absolute consent is expected and any violations will result in immediate removal (in the middle of Bumblefuck, Pennsylvania) and Amy/Rapunzel’s wrath.

Things to keep in mind:

It’s Pennsylvania in summer. That means hot and humid (avg temp is 80-85°F). That also means mosquitos and ticks. Bug spray is your friend!

We have farm animals and two friendly dogs, Chidi and Carter. There are roosters that crow at dawn. Bring ear plugs. You are welcome to bring your well behaved dog. Due to age and medical conditions, Carter is NOT neutered.

It does get muddy.

Burner Rules!  See them here.

Donation toward shared supplies and spaces – $75 prior to May 1; $85 after May first. Preferred method Venmo: @Amy-Peters-25.

This allows your donation to go directly to the event/homestead instead of corporation fees. Cash is also acceptable. If paying through the website, a $5 service fee has to be added. All donations go 100% to the event.

New this year! Become a HBH Rainbow supporter! If you have the ability to throw any extra cash toward the event, it’s much appreciated.

We love having folks stay with us any time, so if you want to get away and have a great idea for some kind of infrastructure, come help us build it! We are hosting a work weekend over Memorial Day. Come help us build the stage/orgy dome/wrasslin ring and take part in whatever evening shenanigans that occur.  All help is much appreciated!

If you are not the camping type, there are hotels 15-20 minutes away. The closest city is Scranton. There is a super tiny airport in Wilkes-Barre. Philadelphia is 2.5 hours away. Allentown is 1.5. The big airports “near” us are Philly, Newark, JFK, LaGuardia. Baltimore is 3.5.

We will have space for a few RVs but no electric/water hook ups.

Please keep in mind this is our home. Please treat it as yours- clean up after yourselves! There’s no housekeeping service or staff here – it’s just Amy and Brian. ***THIS IS A PARTICIPATORY EVENT!*** If you see something that needs to be done and are capable of handling it, please do so (such as emptying the trash).  This event cannot succeed without everyone’s participation.  We are fortunate to have this amazing piece of land; we want to share it and have it absorb memories from amazing people.
